When toasting currant buns or teacakes, remove any loose currants from the bread before placing them in the toaster; Loose currants may fall into the appliance and damage the toaster. You can interrupt toasting at any time by turning the browning control to the STOP/EJECT position. 6 • Warming buns and croissants, etc. : (accessory available, depending on model) Your toaster comes with a bun/croissant warmer. Before use, please follow these instructions : - Raise the warming rack by PRESSING DOWN the bun warmer lever. - Turn the browning control button to the required position, 1 to 3 maximum. - Place the buns or the croissants on the warming grid. - Lower the control knob to DOWN position. - When warmed, the control knob springs UP, and the buns are hot. - If you turn the buns over when the cycle is finished, the heat will still circulate for 1 to 2 minutes. The buns will then be warmed all through. - After use, leave the toaster to cool and then unplug. - Lower the warming rack by LIFTING UP the bun warmer lever. Precautions : • You should not use the toaster to toast slices of bread and warm buns/croissants at the same time • Never place buns or croissants directly on or in the slots of the toaster • Do NOT use the accessory to cook or defrost frozen food 7 • Cleaning : Before any cleaning, unplug and leave the toaster to cool down. Pull out the crumb tray and empty out the crumbs. Never use a metal object inside the toaster, this could cause serious damage. Wipe the outside of the toaster and the cord with a damp cloth. Dry. Never use harsh or abrasive cleaning products, oven cleaners or bleach. Do not wrap the electric cord around the toaster body, there is a cord storage area underneath. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE Before using your toaster for the first time, please read the instructions for use and safety instructions carefully The safety of this appliance complies with the technical ruling and standards in force. This appliance complies with the safety rules and conditions in force, as well as the following directives : - electromagnetic compatibility directive, 89/336/EC, modified by directives 92/31/EC and 93/68/EC, - low-voltage directive 73/23/EC, modified by the 93/68/EC directive. Given the many standards in effect, if this toaster is used in a country other than the country where it was purchased, have it verified by an approved service centre. Check that the mains voltage corresponds to the voltage indicated on the appliance. Always connect the appliance to a three-pin earth plug. Use on a stable working surface, and keep away from water. Do not carry or move the appliance when in use. Do not touch the very hot surfaces, notably the metal cover – only touch the insulation and knobs (and the handles of the bun warming accessory). Do not plunge the electric wires, plug or the appliance itself in water so as to avoid electric shocks. Do not let the toaster operate unattended, particularly when toasting for the first time or when changing settings. Keep out of reach of children. Unplug appliance when not in use or for cleaning. Do not use appliance if: - the appliance or cord is faulty, - the appliance has been dropped and is visibly damaged or is not working correctly. In this case, the appliance must be sent to the nearest approved After-Sales centre to avoid any danger. It could be dangerous to add accessories to the toaster which have not been recommended by the manufacturer. Only use the appliance indoors. Do not leave the cord hanging loose. Do not coil the cord around the appliance if this is still hot. If you use an electric extension, be careful that : a) your extension is rated at 10A minimum, b) the extension is earthed, c) this extension is placed out of reach of children. Do not place your toaster on a source of heat or on a hot oven. The toasting control lever must be in the UP position when connecting or disconnecting the appliance. Slices of thick bread (fire risk) and metal objects (risk of short-circuit) must be avoided. Never put paper, cardboard or plastic in the appliance. As bread can catch fire, never use the toaster near or under curtains or other inflammable material nor under wall cupboards. Never leave unattended. If flames were to arise from parts of the product, never attempt to extinguish them with water. Smother the flames with a damp cloth. If a slice of bread remains stuck in the toaster, unplug and wait until cool. Then remove the bread without touching the metal parts. Never use a fork or any other metal object. This appliance has been designed for domestic use only. Any professional use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsability and the guarantee will not apply.
