Fixes

starting without notification.

Fixed a case where the library would become unresponsive when restoring an Encryption Kit
token backup file with a .tkn suffix created with MSL6480 firmware versions prior to 4.30.
Known issues and workarounds
•
Issue: When enabling KMIP, the system displays error “HE: system error, memory at address zero
violated. Code: D7 E1”.
Workaround: Reboot the library. KMIP will be enabled after the reboot.
•
Issue: The RMI does not allow connections although the autoloader or library can still respond to
standard ping commands, the OCP is functional, and the communication with the tape drives
operates normally. The only backup operations that might be affected are those configured for
KMIP configuration.
This is a rare condition, but if the autoloader or library gets into this state while it is configured
for KMIP encryption, backup operations can fail because KMIP keys cannot be retrieved.
The check condition related to this KMIP failure is:
Check Condition 0x02/0x7463(ASCQ=0x7463)
Workaround: Re-seat the Ethernet cable attached to the library controller. No autoloader or library
reboot is needed.
Compatibility notes
When changing firmware
Because each firmware revision contains new features, some configuration settings are not retained
when earlier firmware versions are loaded. HP recommends against downgrading firmware unless
instructed to do so by an HP Support engineer. Always verify configuration settings after installing
firmware.
MSL Encryption Kit token with odd-numbered PIN length
When using firmware version 2.50, 4.40, 6.70, 9.10, or newer revisions with the Encryption Kit, any
key server tokens set with an odd number of characters for the PIN will not be totally backwards
compatible in autoloaders or libraries with code revisions 2.10, 4.00, 6.30, or 8.70. In those cases,
a token in an autoloader or library with 2.10, 4.00, 6.30, or 8.70 firmware revisions will be able to
accept the PIN for the token and access keys on the token, but the user will not be able to change the
PIN on the token, save the keys to a file, or restore the keys from a file until the autoloader or library
firmware is upgraded. Users should always upgrade to the latest version of firmware to ensure complete
compatibility.
Installation instructions
To upgrade firmware from the RMI:
1.
Download current firmware using HP Library & Tape Tools or from the HP support website: http://
www.hp.com/support/storage.
2.
Log into the RMI as the administrator user.
3.
In the Support: Firmware page, browse to the location of the firmware file.
