Configuring Data Protector block size and the NDMP blocking factor
Within the limits of the backup device, the Data Protector block size determines the size of the blacks
(data units) processed. The backup device processes data in the specified block sizes. The block size
is specified as backup device parameter as shown in Figure 16.
The default block size value for all devices is 64 kB. Increasing the block size can improve backup
performance and the deduplication ratio for regular file system backup. For NDMP backup, changing
the block size has no significant effect on deduplication ratios.
