Solution Quick Start Guide | HP Graphics Server Blade Microsoft RemoteFX vGPU Quick Start
o
User mode — production RFX mode. In this mode the add-on card is enabled and the embedded Matrox
card is disabled.

In this mode it is not possible to reach the iLO console through iLO, the OA, or front I/O dongle.
You must enable the remote RDP console for systems management.

If unfamiliar with these system and video modes, please read Appendix A before continuing.

Windows Server 2012 R2 running on Gen9 servers can use both the embedded GPU and an add-in GPU at the same
time when running in UEFI mode. It is no longer necessary to disable the embedded GPU running in production.

In Windows Server 2012, there is a known issue during the Windows boot process where it will hang on a screen
stating “Getting Devices Ready.” This issue only happens on Server 2012 (not 2012 R2). To work around this,
disconnect the GPU, install the server OS fully, and patch it with all Windows updates. Once the updates are
installed you can reconnect the GPU and continue with the installation. Another workaround is to use 2012 R2.

On a Graphics Server Blade with an NVIDIA K1 or K2 you must run system BIOS version 11/15/13 or later.
Documentation on this issue can be found at the following URL:
