Usage Precautions • Do not expose the second hard disk drive pack to shock. Use care when handling the second hard disk drive pack, shock may damage it and make your software applications and data unusable. • Handle the second hard disk drive pack as shown (holding both sides). Handle the second hard disk drive pack as shown in the figure (holding both sides). Otherwise, the second hard disk may be damaged. In addition, do not apply excessive downward force on the second hard disk drive pack, since this may damage the disk and deform the projections at the bottom of the pack. • Be sure the shape of the lock at the bottom of the second hard disk drive pack does not become deformed. Do not insert the pack that has become deformed into the multi-media pocket. The pack may become impossible to remove later. • Do not power off your computer while software applications are running or MP indicator is on. Properly shut Windows down to avoid problems ([Start] - [Shut • Hard Disk Lock The [Hard Disk Lock] setting of the Setup Utility is effective only for the internal hard disk. It will not work for a second hard disk installed in the multimedia pocket. 3 First Time Operation Follow the procedure below when using a second hard disk for the first time after purchasing the second hard disk drive pack. In the standby or hibernation mode, do not install/remove the second hard disk drive pack. Power off your computer When inserting the second hard disk drive pack for the first time, be sure to insert it after turning the computer off. Install the second hard disk drive pack Gently insert the pack into the multimedia pocket by pushing on both comers until it clicks into place. Do not install the pack upside-down. The bottom of the pack may become disfigured. Xnqte> Whether the second hard disk is properly recognized or not can be confirmed in [Main] of the Setup Utility. If the disk is not recognized by the computer (or if the second hard disk cannot be accessed), power off the computer and reinstall the pack. Insert the pack with the label side facing up. 3 Format the second hard disk At the time of purchase, the second hard disk is unformatted. After installing the second hard disk drive pack, be sure to format it with the following procedure. 1 Select [Restart in MS-DOS mode] in [Start] - [Shut Down]. 2 Input the following command. FDISK ( Enter ) 3 The message [Do you wish to enable large disk support (Y/N).....?] will be displayed. Press and then press r Enter ). 4 4 When [FDISK Options) is displayed, select [5.
