Particles of concern which are normally in this size range include pollen, household dust, cigarette smoke, bacteria, animal dander, molds, etc. STAGE 3: The clean air stream then passes through a 1/2” inner blanket of activated carbon impregnated non-woven polyester filter material. This final stage of filtering adsorbs additional gaseous contaminants such as odors and toxic fumes. SERVICE LIFE The useful service life of the filter media in the AMAIRCARE Air Filtration System is directly related to the volume of air passed through the system and the amount of contaminants in the air. In a typical residential application, the Stage 1 and Stage 3 filter media should be replaced every three to six months. The Stage 2 HEPA filter should retain peak performance for a period of two to five years, again, depending on the amount of particulate in the air and the maintenance of the Stage 1 pre-filter.
