BACKWASHING GUIDE CLARIFIER FILTER The clarifier needs backwashing when you can see sediments in the water, or when faucet water pressure drops. When that happens depends on how much sediment is in the water supply,and how much water your household uses. You can use the following table as a guide. WATER CONDITION BACKWASHES PER WEEK normal sediments, dirt, etc. 1 normal sediments, _i_, etc., 2-3 WITH iron high sediments, dirt, etc. 2 high sediments, dirt, etc., 3-4 WITH iron NOTE: The timer is factory programmed for Monday, Wednesday and Saturday recharge. NEUTRALIZER/TASTE & ODOR FILTERS The filter mineral bed will trap and hold some dirt, sediments, iron, etc., that may be in your water supply. To flush them from the mineral bed, 1 backwash each week is recommended. Backwash also stirs the mineral bed which helps to keep water flowing through the entire bed instead of forming a channel. 8 SECTION 2 HOW YOUR WATER FILTER WORKS II 2A. FACE PLATE TIMER FEATURES BACKWASH NOW For times you expect to use more water than usual, use the BACKWASH NOW feature. Press the BACHWASH NOW-HOLD button [] and hold in for 3 seconds.
