Hold the handrailsand begin walking. Each program is divided into 30 one-minute seg- ments. One speed setting and one incline settingare programmed for each segment. Note: Thesame speed setting and/or incline setting may beprogrammed for consecutive segments. During the program, the profile will show yourprogress (see the drawing above). The flashingsegment of the profile represents the current seg- ment of the program. The height of the flashingsegment indicates the speed setting for the currentsegment. At the end of each segment, a series oftones will sound and the next segment of the profilewill begin to flash. If a different speed and inclinesetting is programmed for the next segment, thespeed or incline setting will flash in the display toalert you. The program will continue in this way until the lastsegment of the profile flashes in the display andthe last segment ends. The walking belt will thenslow to a stop. If the speed or incline setting for the current seg- ment is too high or too low, you can manually over- ride the setting by pressing the Power Incline, Quick Speed, or numbered speed buttons. Everyfew times you press a Quick Speed button, an ad- ditional indicator will light or darken in the CurrentSegment column; If any of the columns to the rightof the Current Segment column have the samenumber of lit indicators as the Current Segmentcolumn, an additional indicator may light or darkenin those columns as well. Important: When thecurrent segment of the program ends, the tread- mill will automatically adjust to the speed andincline settings for the next segment. To stop the program at any time, press the Stopbutton. The time will begin to flash in theTime/Pace display. To restart the program, pressthe Start button or the Quick Speed increase but- ton. The walking belt will begin to move at 1 mph. When the next segment of the program begins, thetreadmill will automatically adjust to the speed andincline settings for the next segment. 15 4. Follow your progress with the matrix and thedisplays. See step 5 on pages 13 and 14. 5. Measure your heart rate if desired. See step 6 on page 14. 6. Turn on the fan if desired. See step 7 on page 14. 7. When you are finished exercising, remove thekey from the console. See step 8 on page 14. HOW TO CREATE YOUR OWN QUICK PROGRAM 1. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 13. 2. Select a custom quick program. To select a custom quick program, press one ofthe two Create Your Own Quick Programs buttons. Note: If a custom quick program has not yetbeen defined, only three segments of the pro- file will scroll across the matrix. If more than three segments appear, see HOW TO USEYOUR OWN QUICK PROGRAM on page 17. 3. Press the Start button or the Quick Speed in- crease button and program the desired speedand incline settings. A moment after you press the button, the walkingbelt will begin to move. Hold the handrails andbegin walking. Each custom pro- gram is dividedinto one-minute segments. Onespeed setting andone incline settingcan be pro- grammed for each segment. The speed setting forthe first segment will be shown in the flashing seg- ment of the profile. To program a speed settingand an incline setting for the first segment, simplyadjust the speed and incline of the treadmill as de- sired by pressing the Quick Speed and PowerIncline buttons. Every few times a Quick Speedbutton is pressed, an additional indicator will ap- pear or disappear in the Current Segment column. Current Segment When the first segment of the program ends, a se- ries of tones will sound and the current speed set- ting and the current incline setting will be saved in memory. The three segments of the profile will then move one column to the left, and the speedsetting for the second segment will be shown in theflashing Current Segment column. Program aspeed setting and an incline setting for the secondsegment as described above. Continue programming speed and incline settingsfor as many segments as desired; custom pro- grams can have up to forty segments. When youare finished with your workout, press the Stop but- ton twice. The speed and incline settings that youhave programmed and the number of segmentsthat you have programmed will then be saved in memory. 4.
