Upgrading from HPOS 3.3 to HPOS 3.5
This technical note provides a workaround for the error that might occur while upgrading HP Output Server 3.3 to HP
Output Server 3.5.

Problem
When you try to upgrade HP Output Server 3.3 to HP Output Server 3.5 with MySQL 5.0, it might fail. While
upgrading from HP Output Server 3.3 to HP Output Server 3.5, all HP Output Server 3.3 databases are migrated to
HP Output Server 3.5 MySQL using the dbupgrade utility.
While upgrading databases, if the HP Output Server 3.3 database contains objects that are not supported in HP Output
Server 3.5, then they are uploaded to the HP Output Server 3.5 database without the object name being validated by
the dbupgrade utility. This causes unexpected behavior and the upgrade fails.
For example, if in HP Output Server 3.3, a DSM server is created with the name dsm1f:dsm1g, then the upgrade
fails: the CM server configuration of HP Output Server 3.5 fails (without any error message), but the
HostConfig.sgml file of HP Output Server 3.5 is updated. Therefore, the server status in HP Output Server 3.5
for the dsm1f:dsm1g server appears as stopped. You will be unable to start this server in HP Output Server 3.5
as it does not exist in the CM server.
