If it still does not fi t, contact a qualifi ed electrician to change the outlet, or use a different one. Do not attempt to bypass this safety feature. Power is fed to the unit even when it is not functioning. To cut the power supply off, the power cable must be unplugged. Top view Radio • The unit can program up to 20 normal audio CD tracks. • In program mode, RANDOM playback cannot be selected. Extend or reposition the antenna for better FM reception. Rotate the unit for better AM reception. Battery power You can insert 6 C-sized alkaline batteries (not supplied) and you can take your stereo just about anywhere. • Open the battery compartment door on the bottom of the unit by pressing down on the tab and pulling out the cover. • Before inserting the batteries, observe the polarities (that is, + and -) of the battery, then relate the polarities to the engraved diagram located on the battery compartment door. Insert batteries in the battery compartment. Note that the AC line cord must be unplugged from the jack on the back of the unit to operate on batteries. Precautions • This compact disc player uses a laser to read the music on the disc. The laser mechanism corresponds to the cartridge and stylus of a record player. Although this product incorporates a laser pick-up lens, it is completely safe when operated according to directions. • Discs rotate at high speed inside the player. Do not use damaged, warped, or cracked discs. • Do not touch the pick-up lens which is located inside the disc compartment. To keep dust from collecting on the pick-up lens, do not leave the compartment door open for an extended period of time. If the lens becomes dirty, clean it with a soft brush, or use an air blower brush designed for camera lenses. • Minimum distances around the apparatus for suffi cient ventilation. • The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation opening with items, such as newspaper, tablecloths, curtains, etc. • The rating plate is located at the bottom cabinet of apparatus. Headset Safety To use a headset safely, please keep the following in mind: • Do not play your headset at a high volume. Hearing experts advise against continuous extended play. • If you experience ringing in your ears, turn down the volume or stop using the headset. • Do not use a headset while driving a motorized vehicle or riding a bike. It may cause a traffi c hazard and is illegal in many areas. • Even if your headset is an open-air type designed to let you hear outside sounds, don’t turn up the volume so high that can’t hear sounds around you. BAND AM/FM – Selects AM or FM band. TUNING – Selects radio frequency. / CD / RADIO / OFF – Selects operation mode. To switch off the unit, select OFF. PROG. – Enters CD program mode. MODE – Selects playback modes. BASS – Turns bass boost on and off. VOL. – Adjusts volume. PUSH TO OPEN - Push to open the mp3 device storage compartment door. Push the door to close it. Front view FM antenna Carrying handle – In CD mode – goes back to the previous track or searches backward. – Starts and pauses playback. – In CD mode – goes to the next track or searches forward. – In CD mode – stops playback. PUSH TO OPEN – Opens disc tray. Push the disc tray to close it. Back view AC ~ IN – Insert the power cord here. Bottom view OPEN – Push and slide to lift up the battery compartment door. Sound feature Bass Boost system Press BASS to turn the digital bass boost system on or off. Selecting radio mode Slide the selection switch to RADIO position to turn on the radio. Selecting radio band Slide the BAND AM/FM switch to select FM or AM band. Tuning to a station Turn the TUNING knob to select radio frequencies. mp3 input Selecting mp3 Input Slide the selection switch to position. An mp3 player icon shows on the display. Connecting mp3 Player 1. Open the mp3 storage compartment by pushing PUSH TO OPEN on the top of the player. 2. Insert the audio cable into the mp3 player’s headphone jack and start playback of the mp3 player. 3. Close the storage compartment. Adjust the mp3 player to midrange volume and adjust the master volume by rotating VOL. knob on the unit. Do not turn the volume of the mp3 player too high as this may affect the sound quality. For other playback operations, control them on your mp3 player. Selecting CD mode Slide the selection switch to CD position. Loading music 1. Press the PUSH TO OPEN button on the unit front to slide disc tray out. 2. Place a disc on the disc tray with the label side facing up and then push the disc tray back in. Playing and pausing 1. In stop mode, press to begin playback. • The icon is displayed. 2. During playback, press to pause playback. Press again to resume. • The icon fl ashes in pause mode. Skipping and searching 1. Press or to skip to the previous or next track respectively. 2. Press and hold or to search quickly current track backward or forward respectively. Stoping playback Press to stop playback.
