BINDING MACHINE ElECTRiC RBE-2000 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS The safety recommendations outlined in this section should be read and understood before operating this machine. When using this machine follow these basic safety precautions to reduce risk of fire, electric shock or injury. Keep this information for future reference. Warning 1. Do not place the machine in an area where it may be exposed to water or other liquids. 2. Before cleaning the machine always unplug the machine from the wall. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners on the machine. 3. To reduce the risk of electrical shock, do not take apart the machine. When service or repair work is needed bring it to a qualified service repair technician. 4. Only use the power cord that comes with the machine. Using a different power cord may result in electric shock, fire or cause serious damage to machine. 5. Do not use the machine in areas with high temperature or high humidity. T his may result in the machine not working properly. Caution 1. When unplugging the power plug, grip the plug to pull it out. Pulling the cord may result in electric shock, fire, or damage to the machine. 2. Do not use the machine if the cord is damaged. This may result in electric shock, fire, or other hazards. 3. Do not place objects on the power cord and do not bend it excessively. This may result in electric shock, fire or other hazards. 4. When not using the machine for long periods of time, unplug the power cord from the outlet. 5. When operating, place the machine on a flat, level surface. 6. Test punch scrap sheets before punching final documents. 7. Remove staples, paper clips, and other metals from your sheets before punching. 8. Do not use the punching handle as a carrying handle. 9. Foot pedal Foot pedal simplifies punching. Just insert paper into the paper entry and step on the pedal to punch. Adjustable Paper Edge Guide Precise paper edge guide is adjustable for sheets of paper and binding covers. Adjustable Margin Depth Depth of the paper margin can easily be adjusted to . inch, 1/8 inch, and 1/10 inch by pulling out the adjuster. Waste Tray No-mess built in waste tray allows easy removal for paper clippings. Punch Selector Knobs can be pushed in to punch holes for paper larger than letter size, or pulled out to prevent punching holes. 6 RBE-2000 OPERATION Set-up 1. Plug in the power cord and turn the machine on. 2. Make sure the machine is on a flat, study surface. 3. Check to make sure the paper waste tray is empty and correctly fitted. 4. Move the adjustable paper edge guide to the size of paper you wish to punch. 5. Set the size of the margin on the paper by pulling out the margin depth adjuster to 1/4”, 1/8” or 1/10”. 6. Use the hole punch selectors to determine the right amount of holes to be punched for your document. letter sized ( 81/2” x 11”) paper uses 19 holes. The hole punch selectors can be pulled out to prevent punching holes, or pushed in to punch holes. 7. Select the right-sized comb and covers for your documents. For the appropriate comb sizes, refer to the chart of the binding machine. NOTE: Test pieces of scrap paper to make sure everything is aligned properly before punching your finished document. Punching and Binding 1. Slide the front and back covers into the paper entry lengthwise. Press the punching button or step on the foot pedal to punch. 2. Punch the remaining sheets in small batches that do not overload the machine. This machine can punch 20 sheets of 20lb./80gsm paper at one time. 3. Place the binding comb in between the comb pins with the open side facing up. Slowly pull the binding handle forward to have the comb pullers open up the combs wide enough to insert the punched sheets.
