For preprogrammed recording, the VCR needs the following data, which must be stored in a TIMER block: - Date for recording - Program number of the transmission - Start/stop time for recording These data can be copied directly to the VCR from the corresponding program survey of the teletext service. The PDC (RCF Recorder Control Function) data transmitted via Teletext automatically enable correct recording of the required program. For PDC test purposes this pattern generator offers page number 300 in English. Select the teletext FLOF-mode via the FLOF/TOP switch on the rear panel. The scheduled transmission date and time are shown in white and yellow or white and red. The displayed PDC data, date, and time on page 300, are identical to the contents of the PDC memory locations 1 to 9. When you have programmed the PDC memory locations 1 to 4, automatically the timer data, date, and time, are changed. Locations 5 to 9 contain fixed data. For programming the PDC, see Section 7.4.2.4 ’Changing PDC Data’. The operating instructions of your VCR shows you how to program the VCR using PDC. 7.1.6 DIDON ANTIOPE Teletext The French teletext system ’Didon Antiope’ is mainly sent in France in the SECAM L TV system. As for teletext, the Antiope data are serially transmitted in the vertical blanking period over lines that are not visible on the TV. While coding of the transmitted text data in the teletext system is closely related to the structure of the TV signal (one text line is always sent during a TV line), this close connection is not valid for the Antiope system. Start and stop of text pages and text lines are controlled by additional paging and movement codes. Each page consists of 24 rows of 40 characters each (maximum). An additional page header (En-tête de page) may contain information such as page number, time, and date. The Antiope information can be transmitted in lines 6to 22 for the first field, and in lines319to 335 for the second field. The Antiope signal in PM 5415 and PM 5418 is generated in lines 20,21, and 333,334. Forfurther information about position and levels of a Didon Antiope data line, see Fig. 3. PM 5415 /PM 5418 TELETEXT (PDC), VPS, CLOSED CAPTION __7-5 7.2 OPERATING THE INSTRUMENT 7.2.1 Controls and Connectors (Modifications) Control/Connector Function Front panel Key for turning ON/OFF the Teletext (only for PM 5415); PM 5418 generates Teletext automatically in standard TV systems; cannot be switched off. TXT OFF TXT0»o CLOCK Rear panel 7.2.2 Operation 00 + 7-6 TELETEXT (PDC), VPS, CLOSED CAPTION PM 5415 / PM 5418 In the two further positions of the UK-TT/AUTO/ANTIOPE switch, either UK-Teletext or ANTIOPE is switched in, independent of the selected TV system. The PAL M and NTSC systems do not allow teletext operation at all. Use the TOP/FLOF switch on the rear panel to select TOP Teletext or FLOF UK-Teletext. PM 5418 has no key to switch Teletext on or off. The controls on the rear panel are identical with PM 5415. Teletext is automatically generated in the assigned TV system. Note: For the Crosshatch pattern, Teletext is always switched off; Crosshatch has no line interlacing. If necessary, read the operating instructions of your TV equipment regarding the facilities of the teletext decoder and how to operate teletext. 7.2.3 Contents of Teletext Pages TOP/FLOF The instrument offers 18 different text pages.
