If you must use your hair dryer in the bathroom, install a GFCI* now! Your local electrician can help you decide which type is best for you–a portable unit that plugs into the electrical outlet or a permanent unit installed by your electrician. The National Electrical Code now requires GFCI’s in bathrooms, garages, and outdoor outlets of all new homes. Why do you need a GFCI? Electricity and water don’t mix. If your hair dryer falls in water while it’s plugged in, the electric shock can kill you… even if the switch is “off.” A regular fuse or circuit breaker won’t protect you under these circumstances. A GFCI offers you greater protection. A GFCI can save your life! Compared to that, the price is small! Don’t wait… install one now! *GFCI is a sensitive device which reacts immediately to a small electric current leak by stopping the electricity flow. 4 5 6-Foot Cord with Hang Loop 2 Heat/Speed Settings Cool Shot button Dual Voltage Selector Coated Grille Dual Voltage Selector Coated Grille 28409_SSD-250_7/27/05 2:20 PM Page 6 Product Features before after 76 SuperSonic ® Features • More powerful motor & fan design • Larger air intake area • Fast air concentrator • Ionic conditioning • Ceramic radiant heat technology • Mid-size design Ceramic 1875 watts Fast Air Concentrator • 1875 watts • 2 heat settings • 2 speed settings • Cool Shot button • Easy-to-clean grille • 6-foot cord with hang loop • Dual voltage Air Intake Grille SuperSonic ® Dryer Technology Wet hair holds 90% of its moisture in its inner layer. Air that is too hot causes hair’s outer layer to seal shut – trapping water inside and slowing down the drying process. The SuperSonic ® dryer gener ates more airflow so it can use less heat to dry hair more quickly. And less heat equals less hair damage. Fast air concentrator Exclusive vent design pulls in more air for faster precision styling. Overheating This appliance is equipped with an automatic thermal limiter, which will cycle off when overheated and come back on when cooled down. If the unit cycles off, unplug the cord for several minutes before restarting. Ionic conditioning Negative ions neutralize the positive ions that cause static and frizzies. Leaves hair shiny and healthy-looking. Ceramic radiant heat technology Ceramic emits far-infrared, radiant heat to help dry water molecules inside the hair strand. This fast and efficient process helps prevent heat damage for less frizz and more shine. 28409_SSD-250_7/27/05 2:20 PM Page 8 How to Use Cleaning and Maintenance Basic Drying Techniques 1. Gently towel dry hair to remove excess water. Avoid rubbing hair with towel – this creates split ends and frizziness. Detangle hair with a wide-toothed comb. 2. Be sure dryer is turned off. Plug dryer into an electrical outlet. 3. Turn the dryer on and set it to a high heat and speed. Remove some of the additional moisture from your hair by briskly blow drying it all over, using your fingers to "comb" through hair. 4. When hair is almost dry, lower the heat and speed to the desired settings and begin to style. 5. Divide hair into manageable sections. Begin at the nape of your neck and brush hair, following the movement of the brush with the dryer. Continue working your way up to your scalp, then to the sides and the front, drying small sections at a time. 6. Once your desired style is achieved, push the Cool Shot button to set the style with a cool flow of air. For straight, smooth hair: With the dryer turned off, attach the concentrator to the end of the nozzle. Turn the driver on and brush hair from underneath using a large, round brush or paddle brush. Pull hair down until the hair is fully extended and taut. Run the dryer slowly down the length of the hair several times until dry. Repeat with all sections of hair until it is completely dried. Lock in the style with the Cool Shot. For curly hair: Use dryer on a low heat and speed setting and move it quickly about your head. As you dry your hair, scrunch it with your favorite styling product or twirl strands of hair around your fingers to add definition. When finished drying, lock in the style with the Cool Shot.
