Connect the AC adapter power cable to the AC socket on AC adapter (e) and the power cable to the DC socket (r). A V icon is displayed in the monitor when the camera is powered by the AC adapter and power connector. Caring for the Camera Storage When the camera will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery and store it in a cool, dry area with the terminal cover in place. To prevent mold or mildew, store the camera in a dry, well-ventilated area. Do not store your camera with naphtha or camphor moth balls or in locations that: • are poorly ventilated or subject to humidities of over 60% • are next to equipment that produces strong electromagnetic fields, such as televisions or radios • are exposed to temperatures above 50 °C (122 °F) or below –10 °C (14 °F) Cleaning Use a blower to remove dust and lint, then wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. After using the camera at the beach or seaside, wipe off sand or salt with a cloth lightly Camera body dampened in distilled water and dry thoroughly. Important: Dust or other foreign matter inside the camera may cause damage not covered under warranty. Lens, mirror, and viewfinder These glass elements are easily damaged. Remove dust and lint with a blower. If using an aerosol blower, keep the can vertical to prevent the discharge of liquid. Image Sensor Cleaning If you suspect that dirt or dust on the image sensor is appearing in photographs, you can clean the sensor using the Clean image sensor option in the setup menu. The sensor can be cleaned at any time using the Clean now option, or cleaning can be performed automatically when the camera is turned on or off. .. “Clean Now ” Holding the camera base down, select Clean image sensor in the setup menu, then highlight Clean now and press J. The camera will check the image sensor and then begin cleaning. Other operations can not be performed while cleaning is in progress. Do not remove or disconnect the power source until cleaning ends and the setup menu is displayed. .. “Clean at Startup/Shutdown” Choose from the following options: Option 5 Clean at startup Description The image sensor is automatically cleaned each time the camera is turned on. 6 Clean at shutdown The image sensor is automatically cleaned during shutdown each time the camera is turned off. 7 Clean at startup & shutdown The image sensor is cleaned automatically at startup and at shutdown.
