To cancel the OTR but continue recording, press the REC(ord)/OTR button repeatedly until REC appears in the upper left corner of the TV screen. (STATUS must be set to ON. See page 20 for details.) The REC(ord) light will remain on the display panel of the VCR, but the TIMER light will disappear. Helpful Hints • To check the time remaining for an OTR after the OTR has been set, press the STATUS/EXIT button. • To change the recording length while an OTR is in progress, press the REC(ord)/OTR button until the desired length appears on the screen. • If you begin an OTR when another recording is paused, the OTR will begin. • You can not pause an OTR. • If the preset time for a timer recording comes up during an OTR, the OTR has priority. A message will remind you when the timer recording was scheduled to begin. You may let the OTR continue; the timer recording will not take place. Or, stop the OTR and turn off the VCR immediately. The timer recording will take place if you turn off the VCR before the timer recording’s scheduled start time. 28 Timer Recording Follow the steps below to program your VCR to record TV programs while you’re away from home. The VCR will turn itself on, record, and turn itself off automatically. Before you begin: l Set up the channels at the VCR. l Set the clock. l Put a tape in the VCR. There are eight slots. Numbers for open slots will flash on the screen. NOTE: If you enter a number for a slot that has already been used to store a timer recording, PREVIOUSLY SET PROGRAM will appear on the screen briefly. Information about the program in that slot will appear on the screen.
