1 This range hood can discharge upward or backward. According to the conditions where the hood is installed, determine whether it will discharge vertically or horizontally (3." . 10" duct). For vertical or horizontal discharge, run duct work between the hood location and a roof cap or wall cap. For the best results in either directions, use a minimum number of transitions and elbows. Be sure to attach a roof cap or wall cap to avoid leaking rain in the end. 2 The range hood unit must be mounted to a liner which has the following dimensions. Install the liner securely after checking that the opening size of the liner is the same as the figure below. INSTALLATION CAUTION The liner should be installed tightly. If the liner installation is not correct, the range hood unit may become detached and fall off. 1. PREPARATION WARNING • If the range hood is not installed properly, it could become detached and fall off. • Ensure that the metal duct does not touch other metal housing materials, otherwise fire or electric shock could result. 1 This range hood can discharge upward or backward. (2) Provide a transition duct (not supplied) to connect the exhaust pipe and external duct. For the size of transition duct, refer to Fig. at right. (3) Be sure to keep 1-3/16" overlapping length of the exhaust pipe and transition duct when installing. (4) Skip to page 9 for mounting the range hood. In case of Horizontal Discharge (1) Referring to Fig. at right, provide a rectangular hole in the wall for passing through the exhaust pipe. (2) Remove the exhaust pipe from the top of the range hood. NOTE Keep 4 screws (M4.8) for fixing the exhaust pipe later. (3) Detach the cover plate by removing 2 fixing screws, and attach it as shown in Fig. (4) Attach the range hood to the liner. Refer to page 9 for details. (5) Connect the exhaust pipe with the duct, then make the duct joint secure and air tight using non-flammable tape such as duct tape, etc. (not supplied) (6) Attach the exhaust pipe to the range hood with 4 screws (M4.8), from out side of the wall. (7) Connect the duct to out side wall cap. (not supplied) CAUTION To prevent air or moisture from entering through the wall opening, be sure to install wall insulation to seal around duct work completely. INSTALLATION (continued) .......... In case of Horizontal Discharge (1) Referring to Fig. at right, provide a rectangular hole in the wall for passing through the exhaust pipe. (2) Remove the exhaust pipe from the top of the range hood. NOTE Keep 4 screws (M4.8) for fixing the exhaust pipe later. (3) Detach the cover plate by removing 2 fixing screws, and attach it as shown in Fig. (4) Attach the range hood to the liner. Refer to page 9 for details. (5) Connect the exhaust pipe with the duct, then make the duct joint secure and air tight using non-flammable tape such as duct tape, etc. (not supplied) (6) Attach the exhaust pipe to the range hood with 4 screws (M4.8), from out side of the wall. RANGE HOOD MOUNTING 1 Hold up the range hood unit and insert it into the opening of the liner. When the 4 securing plates on both sides have passed through the top of the liner, turn them outward to secure the range hood on the liner temporarily. Make sure that the top of the exhaust pipe is inserted into the bottom of the transition duct. INSTALLATION (continued) 2 Remove 4 screws which are fixed to the front cover. The front cover swings open 90° as shown in Fig. 2. RANGE HOOD MOUNTING 1 Hold up the range hood unit and insert it into the opening of the liner.
