Any overhanging surface or cooker hood should be at least 450mm (18”) above the cooker hob. We do not recommend positioning the cooker below wall cupboards, as the heat and steam from the cooker may cause damage to the cupboards and its contents. Make sure that the walls near the cooker are resistant to heat, steam, and condensation. 2 Installing Your Cooker Connecting the cooker Warning! WARNING -THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED The Baby Belling 121R is designed to operate from a 13A socket outlet. If the cooker is not already fitted with a plug proceed as follows: IMPORTANT: The cooker must be connected to the supply by a properly earthed 3-pin plug (minimum capacity 13 Amp). If a BS1363 fused plug is used it should be fitted with a 13 Amp fuse ASTA or BSI approved to BS1362. The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: Green and Yellow Earth Blue Neutral Brown Live As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: 1. The wire which is coloured green and yellow must be connected to the terminal in the plug which is marked with the letter E or by the earth symbol or coloured green, or green and yellow. 2. The wire which is coloured blue must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter N or coloured black. 3. The wire which is coloured brown must be connected to the terminal which is marked with the letter L or coloured red. If you are not sure how to connect your cooker please consult a competent electrician. During use the appliance becomes hot. Care should be taken to avoid touching heating elements inside the oven. The cooker may already be fitted with a non-rewirable plug. If this is not of the correct type for the sockets in your home it must be cut off and the correct type fitted. If it is cut off it must be disposed of safely. There is a danger of electric shock if it is inserted into a socket. To replace the fuse in a non-rewirable plug, simply prise out the fuse carrier, fit an appropriate replacement fuse, (13 Amp, ASTA or BSI approved to BS1 362) and replace the fuse carrier. Never use the plug without the fuse carrier fitted. If the fuse carrier is lost, a replacement can be obtained from your nearest Belling Spares Distributor, or most Electricity Company shops. The replacement fuse carrier will be identified by either colour coding to match the plug, or by markings on the fuse carrier and the plug. Make sure that a correct replacement is fitted. This appliance has been approved by the British Electrotechnical Approvals Board to the latest European safety standards. 3 For Your Own Safety When used properly your Baby Belling Cooker is completely safe, but as with any electrical appliance there are some precautions you must take in its use.
