B Printed in Taiwan Using MSN® Direct The MSN Direct receiver provides MSN Direct content such as traffic, weather, gas prices, and movie times. For more information about MSN Direct, see .msndirect.com or The MSN Direct receiver replaces the vehicle power cable/traffic receiver that came with your Garmin GPS navigator. Receiver Antenna To vehicle Power LED Mini-USB connector power outlet To receive MSN Direct content: • You must update the software on your Garmin GPS navigator (see • Your MSN Direct receiver must be activated. MSN® Direct Receiver Instructions • The MSN Direct receiver must be connected to your Garmin GPS navigator and your vehicle’s power outlet. • You must be in an MSN Direct coverage area (see WARNING: See the Important Safety and Product Information sheet in your Garmin GPS navigator product box for product warnings and other important information. Garmin’s standard Limited Warranty applies to this product. Activating MSN Direct NOTE: When you first activate your receiver, you must specify a primary location and a current region. The primary location is the area you will use the device most often. The current region refers to your current location where the activation key will be broadcast. To receive MSN Direct content, you must first activate your service (1-year free service included). The product key is required to activate your subscription. To get the product key: 1. Connect the MSN Direct receiver to your Garmin GPS navigator and to your vehicle’s power outlet. Turn your vehicle key to the ON/ACC position, if necessary, to power the Garmin GPS navigator. 2. On your Garmin GPS navigator, touch . NOTE: Depending on the model of your Garmin GPS navigator, the MSN Direct Menu page could be accessible from your unit’s Menu page or Tools page. Look for the MSN icon on your unit. 3. Write down the product key. TIp: The yellow tag on your MSN Direct receiver provides the product key and activation information. If the product key on the yellow tag differs from the one on your unit, use the product key on your unit. To activate your subscription: 1. Go to or call (866) 658.7032 and follow the directions. 2. Within eight days, complete the following steps: • Connect the MSN Direct receiver to your vehicle power outlet, and turn the key to ON/ACC. • Make sure you are in an MSN Direct coverage area. • On your Garmin GPS navigator, touch . If the Subscription Inactive page appears, verify that at least one signal bar in the upper right corner is green . It may take up to one hour for your subscription to be activated. After it is activated, the MSN Direct Menu is accessible. MSN® Direct Receiver Instructions MSN® Direct Menu NOTE: The MSN Direct Menu page may look different depending on your GPS navigator. MSN Direct Menu Page On your Garmin GPS navigator, touch . If your subscription is inactive, see page 4. For traffic information, touch on the Map page. Touch Status to view the MSN Direct signal strength and the receiver’s battery level. From the Status page, touch Subscription to view your subscription status. MSN Content NOTE: Garmin is not responsible for the accuracy of the MSN Direct content. The MSN Direct receiver provides MSN Direct content on your Garmin GPS navigator. For example, in some MSN Direct Coverage areas you can get detailed information on traffic delays and road closures. See for more information.
