How to use • Remember, a good haircut is the basis for a good hairstyle. 2 CLICK 1 2 3 • The Volume Styler is most effective if the hair is damp. After washing, dry your hair in the normal way until it is almost dry. Then begin using your styler. If the hair is dry, lightly dampen it with water. • Before styling brush or comb your hair to ensure that it is untangled. • Prevent the hair from becoming too dry. Overdrying may result in frizzy ends to the hair which makes it hard to style. • The results you can obtain with the Volume Styler will depend upon various factors, for example the thickness, length and structure of your hair. Experimenting with each attachment will help determine the best results and the variety of possibilities achievable with your hair type. 5 • When using the large vent brush, be careful not to tangle it in the hair. Therefore, do not wind it in the hair more than 1,5 turn. And when removing it, keep it away from the head in order not to pick up underlaying hairs. • You can remove the attachment from the hair as soon as the hair feels dry. The time it takes to achieve this will vary subject to the thickness of the hair and the section being styled. • Use position II (maximum position) when you start styling. As the hair dries, you can switch back to position |. For a longer lasting result, switch the Volume Styler to the "Cool air" (1) position for a couple of seconds, before removing the brush from the hair. By cooling the hair the wave or curl will "freeze" and your hair will keep its shape for a longer time. 4 5 6 Making curls and volume in short hair -Using a comb, divide the hair (fig. 4) into sections. Do not take too much hair in one section. -Wind the hair around the brush in the direction you wish the curl to go (fig. 5). Ensure that the hair is wound up at right angles to the scalp so that the brush ends up sitting evenly on the root section (fig. 6). This will ensure optimum lift and volume. Making curls and waves in long hair -Take the ends of the hair and wind it around the brush, in the direction you wish the wave to go (fig. 7). The resulting shape of the wave depends on the amount of hair in the section and the brush; the retractable bristle brush for tighter curls and the large vent brush for looser and bigger waves. -As soon as the hair feels warm to the touch, carefully remove the hot air brush from the hair. -Leave the curls or waves to cool down, before finishing by combing, brushing or fingercombing the hair into its final shape. 7 6 To remove the brush from the hair • Large vent brush -Carefully rotate the styler in opposite direction, just enough to release the hair without spoiling the curl. Be careful not to pick up underlaying hairs; the brush could get stuck in the hair. • Retractable bristle brush -It is not necessary to rotate the brush in opposite direction. Simply push and turn the control knob in the direction of the arrows (fig. 8) and the bristles will retract. - Slide the metal bar sideways out of the curl. This ensures that the curl is not disturbed or tangled and gives longer lasting results. 8 1 2 Cleaning The brushes can be cleaned with a small brush or a dry cloth. Storage 9 The appliance can be hung from the hanging loop (fig. 9). 7 Francais Votre nouvelle brosse coiffante "Volume Styler" de Philips a ete specialement concue pour vous donner un resultat de coiffage remarquable.
