When anapplication is open, select Options > Help to access help for the current view. Additional applications There are various applications provided by Nokia anddifferent third-party software developers that help youdo more with your device. These applications areexplained in the guides that are available on theproduct support pages of the Nokia website. Software updates Nokia may produce software updates that may offernew features, enhanced functions, or improvedperformance. You may be able to request theseupdates through the Nokia Software Updater PCapplication. To update the device software, you needthe Nokia Software Updater application and acompatible PC with Microsoft Windows 2000, XP, orVista operating system, broadband internet access, and a compatible data cable to connect your device tothe PC. To get more information and to download the NokiaSoftware Updater visitsoftwareupdate in the UnitedStates or Tip: To check the software version in your device, enter *#0000# in the standby mode. Settings Your device normally has MMS, GPRS, streaming, andmobile internet settings automatically configured inthe device, based upon your network service providerinformation. You may have settings from your serviceproviders already installed in your device, or you mayreceive or request the settings from the networkservice providers as a special message. You can change the general settings in your device, such as language, standby mode, display, and keypadlock settings. See "General settings" , p. 93. Access codes If you forget any of the access codes, contact yourservice provider. . Personal identification number (PIN) code — Thiscode protects your SIM card against unauthoriseduse. The PIN code (4 to 8 digits) is usually suppliedwith the SIM card. After three consecutive incorrect PIN code entries, the code is blocked, and you needthe PUK code to unblock it. . UPIN code — This code may be supplied with theUSIM card. The USIM is an enhanced version of the SIM card and is supported by UMTS mobilephones. . PIN2 code — This code (4 to 8 digits) is suppliedwith some SIM cards, and is required to access somefunctions in your device. . Lock code ( also known as security code) — This code( 5 digits) can be used to lock the device to avoidunauthorised use. The factory setting for the lockcode is 12345. To avoid unauthorised use of yourdevice, change the lock code. Keep the new codesecret and in a safe place separate from your device. Try entering the code only once, if you forget thecode. If the code you entered is not correct, contacta Nokia Care point or your service provider forfurther instructions. . Personal unblocking key (PUK) code and PUK2code — These codes (8 digits) are required tochange a blocked PIN code or PIN2 code, respectively. If the codes are not supplied with theSIM card, contact the operator whose SIM card is inyour device. . UPUK code — This code (8 digits) is required tochange a blocked UPIN code. If the code is notsupplied with the USIM card, contact the operatorwhose USIM card is in your device.
