Remove the frame cover from the underside of the snow thrower by removing four self-tapping screws which secure it. Refer to Fig. 8-3. 1. 2. 3. a. b. c. 4. 5. Figure 8-6 Figure 8-5 Section 78 — Service 21 Slip the drive belt off the pulley and between friction wheel and friction wheel disc. See Fig. 8-7. Remove and replace belt in the reverse order. NOTE: Engaging the drive control will ease reassembly of the belt. Friction Wheel Inspection If the snow thrower fails to drive with the drive control engaged, and performing the drive control cable adjustment fails to correct the problem, the friction wheel may need to be replaced. NOTE: Special tools are required and several components must be removed and in order to replace the snow thrower’s friction wheel rubber. See an authorized Service Dealer to have the friction wheel rubber replaced or phone Customer Support as instructed on page 2 for information on ordering a Service Manual. To inspect the friction wheel, proceed as follows: Place a piece of plastic under the gas cap and tighten securely. Carefully pivot the snow thrower up and forward so that it rests on the auger housing. 6. 7. 1. 2. Fill tank with clean, fresh gasoline. Prime engine as instructed in the Operation section. Clean, adjust gap, or replace spark plug. Insert key fully into the switch. Move choke control to OFF position. Fill tank with clean, fresh gasoline. Drain fuel tank. Refill with fresh fuel. Contact your Cub Cadet Dealer. Contact your Cub Cadet Dealer. Stop engine immediately and disconnect spark plug wire. Tighten all bolts and nuts. If vibration continues, have unit serviced by your Cub Cadet Dealer. Connect spark plug wire. Remove ice and snow from gas cap. Be certain vent hole is clear. Adjust drive control cable. Refer to Maintenance and Adjustments section. Replace drive belt. Refer to Service section Stop engine immediately and disconnect spark plug wire. Clean chute assembly and inside of auger housing with clean-out tool or a stick. Stop engine immediately and disconnect spark plug wire. Remove object from auger with clean-out tool or a stick. Adjust auger control cable. Refer to Assembly & Set-Up section. Replace auger belt refer to Service section. Replace shear pin(s). Unit fails to turn Steering cable loose or damaged. 1. 1. Have unit serviced by your Cub Cadet Dealer.
