WARNING: Never run the unit without the vacuum tubes, vacuum bag, and vacuum handle installed. Failure to heed this warning could result in serious personal injury. Fig. 13 OPERATION VACUUM OPERATION See Figure 13. WARNING: Never run the unit without the vacuum tubes, vacuum bag, and vacuum handle installed. Failure to heed this warning could result in serious personal injury. Fig. 13 • Install the vacuum tubes and bag. Refer to Installing the Vacuum Bag and Installing the Vacuum Tubes. • Start the blower. Refer to Starting and Stopping. ...Place the leaf bag strap over your head and onto your left shoulder. Hold the upper handle in your right hand and the vacuum handle in your left hand. • Move the blower from side to side along outer edge of the debris. To avoid clogging, do not place the vacuum tube directly into the debris pile. • Hold the engine higher than the inlet end of the vacuum tube. • Always point vacuum tube downhill when working on a hillside. • To avoid injury to the operator or unit, do not pick up rocks, broken glass, bottles, or other similar objects. • If the vacuum tubes should clog, stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire before cleaning out the obstruction. • Remove the vacuum tubes and clear the debris from the blower fan housing. Remove the bag and clear the tube. A small rod or stick may be required to clear the entire tube length. Ensure that all debris has been cleared before reassembling the vacuum tubes. Page 15 MAINTENANCE WARNING: When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields during power tool operation or when blowing dust. If operation is dusty, also wear a dust mask. GENERAL MAINTENANCE Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc. WARNING: Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum- based products, penetrating oils, etc., come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury. LUBRICATION All of the bearings in this product are lubricated with a suf- ficient amount of high grade lubricant for the life of the unit under normal operating conditions. Therefore, no further lubrication is required. Fig. 14 REPLACING AND CLEANING THE AIR FILTER See Figure 14. For proper performance and long life, keep air filter clean. . Loosen the knob on the air filter cover. . Remove the cover. .Remove the air filter and clean it in warm soapy water. Rinse and let dry completely. . Work two drops of oil into the air filter. .Reinstall the air filter into the air filter base. . Reinstall the cover. . Tighten knob to secure. NOTE: For best performance, the air filter should be replaced annually. AIR FILTER BASE AIR FILTER COVER KNOB Page 16 MAINTENANCE SPARK ARRESTOR The muffler is equipped with a spark arrestor screen inside muffler body. After extended use the screen can become dirty and you may need to have the muffler replaced by an authorized servicing dealer. WARNING: Never run the blower without the spark arrestor in place. Failure to do so could result in a fire that could cause serious personal injury. CLEANING THE EXHAUST PORT AND MUFFLER The fuel cap contains a non-serviceable filter and a check valve. Acloggedfuelfilterwillcausepoorengineperformance. If performance improves when the fuel cap is loosened, the check valve may be faulty or filter clogged. Replace the fuel cap if required. SPARK PLUG This engine uses a Champion RCJ-6Y with 0.63 mm (0.025 in.) electrode gap. Use an exact replacement part and replace annually. WARNING: Be careful not to cross-thread the spark plug. Cross- threading will seriously damage the product. MAINTENANCE SPARK ARRESTOR The muffler is equipped with a spark arrestor screen inside muffler body.
