If the extension cord does not fit fully into the outlet, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the tool plug or extension cord in any way. BEFORE OPERATING SECURING POWER SUPPLY CORD Secure the power supply cord and a suitable extension cord as shown. OPERATION For low speed operation slide the switch to the center, as shown in Figure 1. To select high speed, slide the switch all the way up, as shown in the figure, and to turn the tool OFF slide the switch to the bottom position, again referring to Figure 1. • FOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY. ASSEMBLY USE AS A BLOWER NOTE: Two tubes are provided. Tube "A" produces high air flow best used for most leaf blowing situations. Tube "B" produces maximum air flow of 200 mph best used for matted leaves. Install the lower screen by pushing it up so that the pins on the sides slide into the grooves in the housing and the interlock notch aligns with the interlock, as shown in Figure 2. INTERLOCK - EXTREMELY IMPORTANT Align the arrow on the tool and the screen as shown in Figure 2 to install. When the screen is on as far as it will go, rotate it clockwise so the pins follow the direction of the grooves shown in the figure. It is only necessary to rotate the screen slightly to lock in place. An interlock Figure 3, is located adjacent to the lower opening in the housing that the screen will actuate when properly installed. This interlock, when not properly actuated by the screen or the suction tube (to be discussed later) prevents the tool from operating without the screen or suction tube installed. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OVERRIDE OR OTHERWISE DISABLE THIS INTERLOCK. Install the blower tube (Figure 4) to the blower housing, as shown in Figure 5, by utilizing the bayonet fitting. USE AS A VACUUM CLEANER 1. TURN OFF AND UNPLUG THE TOOL 2. Remove the blower tube and put it away: you won't need it when you use the tool as a vacuum. 3. Remove the lower screen: (It is attached to the tool with a plastic cord.) 4. Install the smaller of the two vacuum tubes as shown in Figures 7 and 8. For best results, place the motor/handle assembly on the floor, as shown in Figure 7, and clamp it with your feet to prevent its rotation as you install the vacuum tube. Align the interlock notch in the vacuum tube so that it clears the interlock switch, as shown in Figure 7. Push the tube down, engaging the bayonet fitting at the bottom of the tube with the receptacle in the motor/housing assembly. Turn the vacuum tube firmly to the right until it locks into place. NOTE: The tube must be locked in place to properly engage the interlock. If not, the tool will not run. Now install the remaining vacuum tube by utilizing the bayonet fitting. Line up arrows on tool and tubes. 5. Install the collection bag (figure 9) where the blower tube had been. The collection bag also uses a bayonet fitting to connect to the blower housing. OPERATION 1. USE AS A BLOWER: ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES. WEAR A FILTER MASK IF THE OPERATION IS DUSTY. USE OF RUBBER GLOVES AND SUBSTANTIAL FOOTWEAR IS RECOMMENDED WHEN WORKING OUTDOORS. Hold the blower as shown in Figure 6 and sweep from side to side with the nozzle end several inches above the ground or floor. Slowly advance keeping the accumulated pile of debris in front of you. 2. USE AS A VACUUM CLEANER: ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES. WEAR A FILTER MASK IF THE OPERATION IS DUSTY. USE OF RUBBER GLOVES AND SUBSTANTIAL FOOTWEAR IS RECOMMENDED WHEN WORKING OUTDOORS. Hold the vacuum as shown in Figure 10, tilting the suction tube slightly and use a similar sweeping action to the one described under BLOWER. The light debris will flow into the collection bag. Things such as leaves and small twigs will be mulched as they pass through the fan housing so that the collection bag will hold a lot of debris. When the bag gets full, suction will noticeably decrease. Unzip the bag and empty the contents before continuing. CAUTION: NEVER UNZIP THE COLLECTION BAG WITHOUT FIRST TURNING OFF AND UNPLUGGING THE VACUUM. NOTE: If you find that suction significantly decreases and the collection bag is not full the vacuum tube is probably clogged. Unplug the vacuum and clear the tube by hand. MAINTENANCE CLEANING AND STORAGE TURN OFF AND UNPLUG TOOL! (Unplug extension cord at power source.) Clean out any clippings which may have accumulated in the blower/vac. When used properly with dry leaves the fan chamber of your blower/vac should remain clean. If damp earth and debris are ingested some of the particles may build up on the inside of the fan chamber. If this happens the performance of the unit will decrease. This area can be cleaned out by gently inserting a blunt screwdriver between the fan blades and into the area around the fan. This can be used to dislodge the debris working in the direction shown in Figure 11. After several uses, check all exposed fasteners for tightness. Your Blower/Vac should be stored in a dry place. CAUTION: DO NOT POUR OR SPRAY WATER ON THE TOOL I...
