Before you begin, locate the broadband Internet configuration settings from your cable company. You can also consult the Install Assistant on the Resource CD for 54 Mbps Wireless Router. 1 11 Connect the Router a. Turn off your computer and cable or DSL modem. b. Disconnect the Ethernet cable from your computer (A) which connects to your cable or DSL modem. A Cable or DSL modem c. Connect cable from a Local port on the router (B) to computer. 54 Mbps Wireless Router WGR614 Cable or DSL modem B e. Turn on the cable or DSL modem and wait about the lights to stop blinking. f. After turning on the modem and waiting for it to synchronize with the network, turn on the router. g. Now, turn on your computer. If software usually logs you in to your Internet connection, do not run that software or cancel it if it starts automatically. h. Verify the following: When you turn the router on, the power light goes on. If the power light on the router is not lit, check to make sure the power cord is plugged in and that the power outlet is turned on if it is controlled by a wall switch or power strip. The local lights are lit for any connected computers. If no local lights are lit, check to make sure the Ethernet cable is securely connected at the router and at the PC and that the PC is turned on. The Internet light is lit, indicating a link has been established to the cable or DSL modem. If the Internet light is not lit, check to make sure the Ethernet cable is securely connected at the router and at the cable or DSL modem and that the modem is turned on.
