The display returns to the clock. . To change the display to the daylight saving time (summer time) manually, see “To change the display to the daylight saving time (summer time) indication.” Setting the clock and date To change the setting manually, follow the procedure from step 1. 1 Plug in the unit. 2 Press CLOCK until a beep sounds. The year will start to flash in the display. 3 Press TUNE/TIME SET + or – until the correct year appears in the display. 4 Press ENTER. 5 Repeat steps 3 and 4 to set the month, day and time. After setting the time, two short beeps sound and the clock starts from 0 seconds. . Pressing and holding TUNE/TIME SET + or – changes the year, month or day rapidly. When setting the current time, time changes rapidly by 1 minute-increments up to 10 minutes, and then by 10 minute-increments. . While setting the clock, you must perform each step within 65 seconds, or the clock setting mode will be cancelled. . The 100 year calendar is installed in this unit (January 1, 2008 - December 31, 2107). When the date is set, a day of the week is automatically displayed. Su = Sunday, Mo = Monday, Tu = Tuesday, We = Wednesday, Th = Thursday, Fr = Friday, Sa = Saturday To display the year and date Press SNOOZE/DATE/SLEEP OFF once for the date, and within about 3 seconds press it again for the year. The display shows the date or year for about 3 seconds and then changes back to the current time. If you connect the AC plug to AC outlet while this unit is powered from the backup power source, the current date and time appears in the following order. (It is the same as when the unit is powered on after power failure.) “month and date” (about 1 second) . “year” (about 1 second) . “current time” To change the display to the daylight saving time (summer time) indication Change the daylight saving time (summer time) adjustment setting according to the following procedures if you have cancelled the Automatic DST/Summer Time adjustment. Press DST. “ ” appears in the display and the time indication changes to daylight saving time (summer time). To deactivate the daylight saving time (summer time) adjustment, press DST again. Setting the brightness of the display Three levels of brightness are available by pressing BRIGHTNESS/ENTER. Playing the radio —Manual tuning 1 Press RADIO ON/BAND/AUDIO IN to turn on the radio. The display shows the band and frequency for a few seconds and then changes back to the current time. 2 Press RADIO ON/BAND/AUDIO IN repeatedly to select the desired band. Each press changes the band as follows: When using FM1 or FM2 preset mode, you may listen to the radio on either mode. (See “Presetting your favorite station”.) 3 Use TUNE/TIME SET + or . to tune into the desired station. The FM channel step is set to 0.1 MHz and the AM channel step is set to 10 kHz. Two beeps sound when the minimum frequency of each band is received during tuning. 4 Adjust volume using VOLUME. . To turn off the radio, press RADIO OFF/ALARM RESET. . To check the station being received, press TUNE/TIME SET + or . or RADIO ON/BAND/AUDIO IN lightly. The display shows the band and frequency for a few seconds and then changes back to the current time. Presetting your favorite station —Preset tuning You can preset up to 10 stations in FM (5 stations in FM1, 5 stations in FM2), and 5 stations in AM. Presetting a station 1 Follow steps 1 to 4 in “Playing the radio” and manually tune into the station you wish to preset. 2 Hold down the desired STATION SELECT/ PRESET 1 to 5 button until you hear two beeps. Example: To preset AM 1 260 kHz onto preset 2 button. The display shows the frequency for a few seconds and then changes back to the current time. The preset button number will remain. To preset another station, repeat these steps. To change the preset station, tune into the desired station and hold down the STATION SELECT/ PRESET 1 to 5 button until you hear two beeps. The new station will replace the previous station on the preset button. Tuning into a preset station 1 Press RADIO ON/BAND/AUDIO IN to turn on the radio. 2 Press STATION SELECT/PRESET 1 to 5 where the desired station is stored. 3 Adjust volume using VOLUME. After a few seconds, the display will return to the current time but the preset button number will remain. Improving the reception FM: The AC power cord functions as an FM antenna. Extend the AC power cord fully to increase reception sensitivity. AM: Rotate the unit horizontally for optimum reception. A ferrite bar AM antenna is built into the unit. Do not operate the unit over a steel desk or metal surface, as this may cause interference of reception. Listening to the sound from a connected optional component (See fig. .) 1 Connect the built-in audio cable with the stereo-miniplug on the rear of the unit to the line output jack or headphones jack on the optional component (e.g., portable music player). 2 Press RADIO ON/BAND/AUDIO IN to turn on the radio. 3 Press RADIO ON/BAND/AUDIO IN repeatedly to...
