Dial a telephone number. - The dialed number is displayed. o O 1 -1 r CTJTE K ... . ... . -J) Speak to the other party through the MIC (Microphone). -To switch to the handset call, lift the handset. When you have finished, press the SP-PHONE button. - The line indicator and the SP-PHONE indicator lights go out. Note: - The speakerphone does not work without installing batteries. - Be sure that the CONF(Conference) button is released. 5 -16- To adjust the speaker volume You can adjust the volume level of the speaker using the VOLUME control button during a conversation. 12 levels are available. To increase the volume, press ^ . To decrease the volume, press The number of “ *-*” indicates the relative volume level, with the highest level having 12 “O”. The level remains displayed for 2 seconds. After hanging up, the selected volume level is maintained. If you misdial Press the FLASH button firmly. The dial tone is heard, then dial the correct number. To redial Press the LINE 1 or the LINE 2 button, then press the REDIAL button. When using the handset, the unit redials the last dialed number once. When using the speakerphone, the unit redials the last dialed number up to 15 times within a 10-minute period if the line is busy. (Automatic redial) -17- Checking the length of your call You can observe the length of your present call with the current time on the display while having a conversation. Press the CLOCK button during a conversation. - The call duration and the current time are displayed. (Example: You have been talking for 15 minutes 30 seconds.) AM i # _ I_/C f~* 'C _ ft IJ LJ * —• J LJ To cancel the display, press the CLOCK button again. -18- Answering calls When the telephone rings, press the LINE button whose indicator is flashing red. Lift the handset or press the SP-PHONE button to answer the call. -The line indicator light becomes steady. - When you have finished, replace the handset or press the SP-PHONE button. Note: - If the RINGER selector is in the OFF position, “ or “ G9EE0EffiE3 ” is displayed. Set to the HIGH or LOW position. - Be sure that the CONF (Conference) button is released. Helpful hints for the speaker-phone operations: - When the other party find it difficult to hear your voice: Lower the speaker volume using the VOLUME control button or speak louder. - Absorbing echo: Use in a room which has curtains or carpeting. - Avoiding lost or broken conversation: If you and the caller speak at the same time, parts of your conversation will be lost. (12 numbers for upper memory stations, 12 numbers for lower memory stations) The stored number is dialed automatically by pressing the line button and one of the one-touch dialing buttons. Storing phone numbers into memory CAUTION: Please do not press any buttons of “automatic dialer" before programming. This is to prevent misoperation of auto dialer function. Each memory station is capable of storing up to a 16-digit phone number. Be sure that the handset is in the cradle, batteries are installed and the SP-PHONE indicator light goes out. PROGRAM Button One-Touch Dialing Buttons -20- Into UPPER memory stations 1 Press the PROGRAM button. _ “ warn" and “ »¡iMwwaMw» ” are displayed to show the programming procedure. 2 Enter the phone number to be stored up to 16 digits. - The dialed number is displayed. 3 Press one of the one touch dialing buttons to select the memory station. - A beep sounds and the phone number is stored. OR Two beeps sound when the same number is already stored. -To store other numbers, repeat steps 1 through 3. Note: - If you misdial, press the PROGRAM button to end the programming mode, then start from step 1 again to store the correct number. - Pressing the REDIAL button during dialing inserts a hyphen in a phone number. - A “PAUSE” or a “FLASH" can be stored with a phone number counting as one extra digit. (See pages 27, 28.) -A“*" or a can be stored with a phone number counting as two extra digits. - You can keep storing phone numbers including confidential ones.
