2.2 Host Environment Requirements
■
Microsoft Windows Enterprise Server 2003, 2008, and 2008 R2. See Note.
■
Corresponding version of InForm Command Line Interface for Windows to InServ Storage
Server.
■
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or SQL Server 2008. See Note.
■
Microsoft SQL Server database and transaction log must be on separate 3PAR Virtual
Volume and initialized as basic disk formatted as NTFS with adequate snapshot space
assigned.
■
3PAR VSS Provider 1.6.1 or 1.6.2 for Microsoft Windows.
■
Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 and above.
■
Physical server is required for Recovery Manager backup server installation.
NOTE: For platform-specific release levels, please refer to the InForm OS
Configuration Matrix which can be accessed through the 3PAR Document Control
System (DCS).
2.3 System/Security Patch Requirement
Recovery Manager does not require any system or security patches. However, the 3PAR InForm
Operating System and certain applications such as Microsoft SQL Server may have patch
requirements, such as a security patch. Please refer to the 3PAR InForm Operating System and
the vendor's release notes for the Microsoft Operating System and SQL Server patch
requirements.
2.4 3PAR Recovery Manager Requirement
Recovery Manager requires snapshot area for each volume that needs to be backed up.
Snapshot space for a new virtual volume must be manually allocated, either as a static
percentage of the base virtual volume or configured to auto-grow on-demand as required by
changed data blocks. This is accomplished by mapping the snapshot space to a Common
Provisioning Group (CPG). Refer to the 3PAR InForm OS Concepts Guide, 3PAR InForm OS CLI
Administrator's Manual, and the 3PAR InForm Management Console User’s Guide for detailed
information on virtual copies and allocation methods for snapshot space of a virtual volume.
