If the unit is plugged into a power strip, make sure the power strip is plugged in and turned on. Copying Problems ¦ The MultiPASS will not make a copy. One or more BJ tanks in the installed BJ cartridge may be empty. • Check for an error message in the LCD (1p. 13-5) and replace if necessary. (1p. 12-17) You may be trying to make copies with the incorrect BJ cartridge installed in the MultiPASS. • The MultiPASS cannot make copies in color while the Black BJ cartridge is installed. Replace the BJ cartridge with the Color BJ cartridge. (1p. 12-11) • If you have disabled the PHOTO INK PRINT setting (1p. 14-7), you will be unable to make black & white copies with the Photo BJ cartridge. Replace the Photo BJ cartridge with the Color or Black BJ cartridge. Alternatively, enable the PHOTO INK PRINT setting. (1p. 14-7) The handset of the telephone may be off hook. • Make sure the handset is seated properly in its cradle. The document may not have been loaded correctly into the ADF. • Remove the document, stack it if necessary, and load it into the ADF correctly. (1p. 4-3) • Check that the document feed lever is set for the type of document you are copying. The document you are copying may have too many graphics. • If multiple pages are being copied, separate the pages into smaller stacks. If not, make the desired number of copies one at a time as needed. General Problems n The MultiPASS has no power. The power cord may not be plugged in securely. • Check that the power cord is plugged securely into the MultiPASS and into the wall outlet (1p. 2-8). If the unit is plugged into a power strip, make sure the power strip is plugged in and turned on. The power cord may not be supplying power. • Check the power cord by substituting with another, or by using a voltmeter to test it for continuity. n The MultiPASS will not print reports. The Black BJ tank of the installed BJ cartridge may be empty. • Check for an error message in the LCD (1p. 13-5), and replace if necessary. (1p. 12-17) The Photo BJ cartridge is installed in the MultiPASS and the PHOTO INK PRINT setting is disabled. • If you have disabled the PHOTO INK PRINT setting (1p. 14-7), you cannot print reports with the Photo BJ cartridge. Replace the Photo BJ cartridge with the Color or Black BJ cartridge. Alternatively, enable the PHOTO INK PRINT setting. (1p. 14-7) n Nothing appears in the LCD. The power cord may not be plugged in securely. • Check that the power cord is plugged securely into the MultiPASS and into the wall outlet (1p. 2-8). If the unit is plugged into a power strip, make sure the power strip is plugged in and turned on. If the LCD remains blank, unplug the unit, wait five seconds, then plug it in again. Troubleshooting Chapter 13 Troubleshooting 13-25 If the Power Goes Out If power is suddenly lost due to an outage or accidental unplugging, a built-in battery retains the user data settings and the speed dialing settings. However, any sent or received documents stored in memory will be lost. During a power failure, functions are limited as follows: • You cannot make telephone calls. • You cannot send, receive, or copy documents. • You can only use the MultiPASS to receive voice calls if you connected a telephone to your unit.
