If the battery runs down when your computer enters Standby mode, you will lose any unsaved data. Going back to the previous work state is impossible. To avoid loss of data, you should save your data frequently. If the computer is not used for 25 minutes, it will enter System Standby mode when running on AC power. When running on batteries, the computer also will enter System Standby mode after 25 minutes if unused. To avoid this, you can change the settings in the Power Options Properties screen (right-click the power status icon on the taskbar - select Adjust Power Properties - select the Power Schemes tab and change the settings in Settings for VAIO optimized power scheme). Troubleshooting power management The power management setting is not responding Your computer's operating system may become unstable if a lower power state, such as Hibernate is initiated, and then changed before the computer completely enters the lower power state. Activating VAIO Power Management When you start the computer, a power status icon appears on the taskbar. This icon indicates what kind of power source you are using at that time, e.g., AC power. If you double-click this icon, the Power Meter screen appears showing you the power status. VAIO Power Management functionalities are added to the Windows Power Options Properties.
