You may need to reformat your Memory Stick media. Formatting Memory Stick media erases all data, including music data previously saved on it. Before you reformat Memory Stick media, back up important data and confirm that the media does not contain files you want to keep. 1 Copy the data from the Memory Stick media onto your hard disk drive to save data or images. 2 Format the Memory Stick media by following the steps in To format a Memory Stick media (page 56). Why can't I save music files onto my Memory Stick media? Copyright protected music cannot be checked out to any Memory Stick media other than those with the MagicGate logo. ! Use of recorded music requires permission from the copyright holders. Sony is not responsible for music files that cannot be recorded from a CD or downloaded from other sources. Can I copy images from a digital camera using Memory Stick media? Yes, and you can view video clips that you have recorded with Memory Stick media-compatible digital cameras. Why can't I write data to Memory Stick media? Some versions of Memory Stick media are equipped with an erasure prevention switch to protect data from accidental erasure or overwriting. Make sure the erasure prevention switch is off. 208nNTroubleshooting Peripherals What should I do if I cannot connect a USB device? . If applicable, check the USB device is turned on and using its own power supply. For example, if you are using a digital camera, check if the battery is charged. If you are using a printer, check if the power cable is connected properly to the AC outlet. . Try using another USB port on your computer. The driver could be installed to the specific port you used the first time you connected the device. . See the manual that came with your USB device for more information. You may need to install software before you connect the device. . Try connecting a simple, low-powered device such as a mouse to test if the port is working at all. . USB hubs may prevent a device from working because of the distribution of power. We recommend you connect the device directly to your computer without a hub. 209nNTroubleshooting Docking Station Why can't I use my TFT/DVI monitor connected to the DVI-D port? The DVI-D port on the docking station is disabled when your computer is in STAMINA mode. Change the performance mode to SPEED mode and restart the computer. See Selecting Performance Modes (page 106) for mode selection. What should I do if an error message appears when I press the UNDOCK button or select Undock Computer from the Start menu? . When any device inserted or connected to the docking station is in use, you cannot disconnect your computer from the docking station.
