The port replicator is equipped with the same connection terminals as the computer (with the exception of the infrared communication port). By connecting your peripheral devices to the port replicator, you can save yourself the trouble of having to connect and disconnect several cables every time you transport the computer. Some of the illustrations included with the text may differ slightly in shape from the actual items included in the kit in order to make the explanation easier to understand. Microsoft®, MS-DOS0 and Windows® are either registered trademarks of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries. 3 Names of Parts The port replicator is equipped with the same connection terminals as the computer (with the exception of the infrared communication port). It allows your peripheral devices to function as if they were connected directly to the computer. (Refer to "Names and Functions of Parts” in the "Operating Instructions" accompanying the computer.) «am Parallel Port Serial Port A Serial Port B Headphone Jack] a Mouse Port n USB Port e 0 Microphone Jack jCI d ô Display Port Keyboard Port DC-IN Jack n Security Lock (for Kensington Cable) LOCK When using the computer with the port replicator, device connectors must be connected to the port replicator, not directly to the computer. ^-Qjote> It is possible to connect a mouse device to the keyboard port and a keyboard to the mouse port. However, two keyboards or two mouse devices cannot be connected at the same time. Front/Right Side Security Lock Use the anti-theft key to lock the connection between the computer and the port replicator. Lever Slide the lever to dock or undock the computer. Expansion Bus Connector This connects to the expansion bus connector on the back of the computer. When the port replicator is not connected to the computer, be sure that the lever for the expansion bus connector remains on the right side. 4 Connecting/Disconnecting Do not conned or disconnect the port replicator while the computer is powered on. Connecting ^ Power off the computer, and disconnect all cables from the computer. £ Connect the plug of the AC adapter that came with the computer to the DC-IN jack of the port replicator and plug the other end into an AC outlet. • Be sure to use the AC adapter. {The port replicator will not function using the computer's battery power.) • Do not use other than the specified AC adapter (Model No*: CF-AA1639) and AC cord. • Refer to the "Operating Instructions" that came with the computer for information on proper handling of the AC adapter and AC cord. ^ Close the cover of the back side of the computer and the cover of the DC-IN jack firmly. Q After confirming that the expansion bus connector of the port replicator is positioned so that the computer can be docked, insert the front comers of the computer and then press down lightly on the rear corners onto the port replicator guide pins. If you still are unable to solve the problem, power off the computer, disconnect the port replicator, connect the AC adapter to the computer, and check to see if the computer operates normally.
