They are designed for use within the Black & Decker Air System's pressure range. OTHER MAKES MAY NOT WITHSTAND USE AT 65 psi. 10. PREVENT accidental starting. MAKE SURE the switch is in the “OFF" position before plugging in the cord. 11. NEVER “HORSEPLAY." High pressure air is dangerous. Don’t direct air flow toward yourself or others. 12. UNPLUG compressor when not in use, when cleaning and when changing attachments. Avoid accidental starting . . . make sure switch is off before plugging in cord. 13. WEAR PROPER APPAREL. No loose clothing or jewelry to get caught in moving parts. Rubber gloves and footwear are recommended when working outdoors. 14. DON’T OVERREACH. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. 15. DO NOT PULL COMPRESSOR BY THE HOSE. Protect hose from sharp edges and heat. 16. OUTDOOR USE EXTENSION CORDS. When tool is used outdoors, use only extension cords suitable for use outdoors and so marked. 2 DOUBLE INSULATION' '> "■ : ■ ; ' ' ' ' : ■ == '■ Your Air Compressor is DOUBLE-INSULATED to give you .added safety.. This means that it is constructed throughout with TWO separate “layers" of electrical insulation between you and the tool’s electrical system. , Tools built with this insulation system are not intended to be grounded. As a result, your Air Compressor is equipped with a two-pronged plug which permits you to use any conventional 120 volt electrical outlet without concern for maintaining a ground connection. NOTE: DOUBLE-INSULATION does not take the place of normal safety precautions when operating this tool. The insulation system is for added protection against injury resulting from a possible electrical insulation failure within the tool. CAUTION: When servicing Double-Insulated Tools, use ONLY IDENTICAL REPLACEMENT PARTS. Replace or repair damaged cords. EXTENSION CORD To prevent loss of power and overheating, the wires in an extension cord must be of adequate size. When using compressor outdoors, use only U.L. listed “OUTDOOR" extension cord. To determine the minimum size wire required, see table below: Extension Cord Length in Feet ...............................Up to 75 75 to 150 150 to 200 Minimum Wire Size (American Wire Gauge): 120 Volt Tools .......................18 ■ ^ 16 14 Note: The lower the wire size number, the heavier the wire, and the farther it will carry current without a voltage drop. Before using Extension Cords, inspect them for loose or exposed wires and damaged insulation. Make any needed repairs or replacement before using your power tool. SWITCH To turn the compressor “ON," push down on the side of the rocker switch marked “ON." Pushing down on the other side of switch turns the compressor “OFF." Be sure to push the switch “OFF" before disconnecting the plug. Otherwise the compressor will start immediately the next time it is plugged in. AIR HOSE Your compressor comes complete with a 15 foot length of air hose which coils neatly in the recessed top of the compressor. However, with Black & Decker hose extensions, you can work at a greater distance from the compressor. You can go as far as 200 ft. away from the compressor and still be assured of adequate air flow and pressure at the point of use. Accessory Air Hose Extensions can be added to the standard 15 foot compressor air hose. These extra lengths allow greater freedom of movement without moving the compressor. Cat.
