Read this along with the documentation for your DV recorder and audio recorder (such as the A-6). * It is impossible to connect to the Panasonic VHS recorder (5-pin editing terminal). * When the DV recorders of Som/ and Panasonic are connected simultaneously, select ivhich DV recorder to use, with the selector switch on the front panel. Synchronizing the Time Codes If you're using a Panasonic DV recorder, make the frame rate of the MTC (MIDI Time Code) that the SI-80SP sends to the audio recorder (such as the A-6) matches the frame rate of the video time code. The corresponding frame rate of the time code mav vary according to your country or video equipment. The types of MTC (MIDI Time Code) that the SI-80SP can send are listed below. The corresponding indicator lights up to show the MTC frame rate that is presently being sent. NTSC (29.97) DF: This is d rop frame at a rate of 29.97 frames per second.. It is used in the NTSC color video standard. NTSC (29.97) NDF :This is non-drop frame at a rate of 29.97 frames per second. It is used in the NTSC color video standard. PAL (25): This is a frame rate of 25 frames per second. It is used in SECAM- and SECAM-standard video and audio equipment as well as in motion pictures. About Time Codes (NTSC Format) Time codes such as the following are genera' ly used for NTSC-format video equipment. The setting should normal ly be left at NTSC (29.97) DF. MiniDV (consumer-use DV recorders): 29.97DF DVCAM (commercial-use DV recorders): 29.97NDF or 29.97DF (selectable) 1. Plug the AC adapter into a power outlet. 2. Press the [SELECT] button. If the power to the SI-80SP is turned off while in this state, the time-code settings are lost. Follow the steps below to save the settings. 1. Hold d own the [SELECT] button for at least three seconds. The indicator showing the present frame rate blinks somewhat rapidly.
