BEFORE USING THIS INSTRUMENT. READ BACK PAGE OF THE MANUAL FOR FURTHER WARNINGS. OUTPUT JACK Neck: The select rock maple neck is of a unique bilaminated construction (U.S. Patent #4,237.944) to provide unmatched rigidity and freedom from warpage. Additional reinforcement is provided with a steel torsion rod. This neck adjusting rod features rolled threads for improved strength and freedom from breakage (see Adjustment: Torsion Rod for instructions). The ultra slim neck (1V*'' wide at topnut) features a full 34" scale length and 21 18% nickel-silver frets which are medium height, highly crowned, and polished. The arch of the fingerboard is on an 8” radius to provide exceptional playing ease and string distance/balance characteristics. The neck of the instrument also employs four premium die-cast machine heads (22:1 ratio), an extended "string hold-down" and a durable Graphlon™ topnut. The neck is secured to the body with four screws for maximum stability through a solid steel neck plate which features our neck-tilt adjustment. (See Adjustments: Neck Tilt for instructions.) Body: The body of the Foundation S is constructed from the finest select hardwood with deep, double cutaways for easy access to the highest fret. A special forearm and rib cage relief contour allows weight reduction, proper balance, and maximum playing ease. The instrument features our polyester/urethane finish which is mar and weather resistant. Pickups: (Foundation S) The instrument's two split-coil humbucking pickups provide high output and wide frequency response. Each pickup is housed in a specially-designed mounting ring, allowing easy and accurate height adjustment. Each pickup also features adjustable polepieces. permitting precise balancing of string-to-string response. Pickups: (Foundation S Active) If you have purchased the Foundation S Active bass, it comes fitted with two very special BI-FET surface-mounted active pickups to enable you to explore sounds never before available outside the recording studio. Because these pickups contain active circuitry, they are powered by a 9 volt battery (Peavey battery type #05013). This battery is not included with the Foundation S Active. We recommend replacement every 1000 hours of operation. If this instrument develops a fuzzy sound or has low output, the battery should be changed. To replace the battery simply remove the retaining screws from the control panel cover at the rear of the body, remove the old battery, and replace it. the cover, and the screws. There are no other user serviceable parts contained inside this instrument. If problems occur, take your instrument to a local Peavey dealer or authorized service agent for servicing, as tampering may void your warranty. The Foundation S Active and the Foundation S bass share the same controls. The pickups may be used singly or in unison and are controlled by individual volume controls and.one master tone control. Each volume control is tone compensated to minimize high frequency loss at low volumes. Humbucking mode is retained when one or both pickups are on. Bridge: The bridge of the instrument is constructed from black chrome plated 13 gauge steel and is securely bolted to the body at five points. The four “barrel-type" string saddles are made from heavy-duty steel for maximum sustain and string stability and are fully adjustable for string height, tilt, and intonation/compensation (see Adjustments: Height and Intonation for instructions). Controls: 1. Volume Controls: Volume controls for each pickup (neck and bridge) operate independently. Rotating the control knobs clockwise will increase volume; rotating counterclockwise will reduce volume. When both pickups are at maximum volume settings they are combined to give the noise-free operation and fullness of one humbucking pickup. 2. Tone Control: The tone control operates as a master control. Rotating clockwise will result in more treble (high frequencies) and a brighter tonality. Rotating counterclockwise will result in less treble and a "bassier-type" sound. 3. Output Jack: The output jack is a genuine Switchcraft '/<” phone jack which accepts standard guitar patch cords. (We recommend high quality shielded patch cords.) 4. Pickups: The volume level of the pickups can be adjusted by raising or lowering each pickup with its height adjustment screws. Raising the pickup closer to the strings will increase the output and volume. Lowering the pickup away from the strings will decrease output and volume. NOTE CARE MUSTBETAKENTO MAINTAIN ADEQUATE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE PICKUP AND THE STRINGS. INADEQUATE CLEARANCE CAN RESULT IN POSSIBLE LOSS OF SUSTAIN AND POSSIBLE STRING BUZZING WHEN PLAYING ON THE UPPER FRETS. Adjustments: Your instrument has been carefully adjusted for accurate intonation and playing ease at the Peavey factory. However, your playing style or playing requirements may necessitate additional adjustments at some time in the future. These adjustments ...
