Back off the screw until its head rests on the stopper on the opposite handle. Back off the screw 1/6th of a turn at a time and hold tool to the light, observing result of gap setting. 3. To verify the gap, place a sheet of paper between the jaws and fully close the handles. The jaws should hold the paper in place. Hold the screw in place and tighten the lock nut.
