Components The notebook kit is comprised of the following products: • USB 2.0 4-port hub (model: KITHUB) • Mini RF optical mouse (model: KITWOM) • Notebook surge protector (model: KITNBS) • Retractable RJ45 cable (model: KITRJ45) Using the USB 2.0 4-port hub Introduction The Dynex USB 2.0 4-port hub allows you to add multiple high-performance USB 2. 0 and USB 1.1 peripheral devices to your computer. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS • Always read the safety instructions carefully. • Keep the user guide for reference. • Keep your hub away from water and humidity. • Place the hub on a flat surface when setting it up. • Contact a service technician if any of the following occurs: • The hub has been exposed to moisture. • The hub has been dropped or damaged. • The hub shows obvious sign of breakage. • The hub is not working as documented in this user guide. For more information, see “Power adapter” on page 5. 2 Plug the cable into the type A connector on the computer. 3 Optional: Plug the power adapter into an AC power outlet. Note: Windows Me cannot identify the USB hub’s brand and the Device Manager shows a green question mark next to the hub’s icon. This does not affect how the hub functions. VERIFYING INSTALLATION IN MACINTOSH OS X After installation is finished, go to Apple System Profiler\Devices and Volumes\ USB to verify the completed installation. Setting up your mouse INSTALLING THE BATTERIES To install the batteries: 1 Press the tab on the bottom of the mouse, then remove the cover. 2 Insert the batteries as shown on the diagram inside the battery compartment. 3 Replace the cover. INSTALLING THE RECEIVER To install the receiver: • Plug the receiver into your computer’s USB port. ESTABLISHING A CONNECTION To set up a connection between the mouse and receiver: 1 Push the small on/off switch on the mouse to the On position. The optical mouse sensor turns red. ID Switch button 3 Press the ID Switch button on the receiver. ID Switch button If you successfully establish a connection between the mouse and the receiver, the indicator on the receiver flashes several times.
