Slide the red lock (a) on the brewing unit 8. Hold the brewing unit sieve under the completely forward: running water. a 9. Wipe out the inside of the appliance thoroughly with a damp cloth and remove any coffee residues. 10. Allow the brewing unit and the inside of the appliance to dry. 11. Ser vice -clean .i -button 3 sec. Ser vice -descale .i -button 3 sec. Ser vice -Calc‘n‘Clean .i -button 3 sec. Then the water ilter should be changed immediately or the appliance cleaned or de- scaled using the corresponding programme (described on the next pages). Otherwise the appliance may be damaged. The service programmes can also be started manually in the settings menu (see “Displaying settings”). Do not drink the liquids. Never use vinegar, vinegar-based products, citric acid or citric acid-based products for descaling. For cleaning and descaling only use the tablets intended for such. They were specially developed for this fully automatic espresso machine, and replacements are available from retailers or customer service (see “Accessories”). Never put descaling tablets or any other descaling agents in the drawer (10) for ground coffee. Never interrupt the service programme. If one of the service programmes is interrupted, e.g. by a power outage, proceed as follows: 1. Rinse the water tank (8) and reill it with fresh water up to the “max” mark. 2. Press z (6). The cleaning programme will now run for about 3 minutes: Cleaning The appliance is ready for use again. Descaling Important: If there is a ilter in the water tank (8), it needs to be removed before the service programme is run and should only be replaced once the programme is inished. If the prompt Service -descale is displayed, press and hold down i (1) for at least three seconds. The display shows: Descale • Press Y or To start without the prompt (see “Displaying Settings”) press and hold down i (1) for at least three seconds and select Descale • Press Y Press z (6). The display will guide you through the programme. Empty drip tray Empty the drip tray (18). Replace drip tray Replace the drip tray. If the milk frother is not inserted, the following message is displayed: Set up milk frother Insert the milk frother (19). Press z (6). The coffee grounds container (18 d) can also be used. To avoid spluttering, push the coffee outlet (20) down fully. Add 0.5 l water and descaler .Y Pour lukewarm water into the empty water tank (8) up to the “0.5 l” mark and dissolve two descaling tablets in it. Press z (6). Thedescalingprogrammewillcontinue. Clean and refill water tank .Y Rinse the water tank and reill it with fresh water up to the “max” mark. Press z (6). The descaling programme will now run for about 1 minute: Descaling Empty drip tray Empty the drip tray (18). Replace drip tray Replace the drip tray. Replace the ilter if one is being used. The appliance is ready for use again. Important: Wipe down the appliance using a soft, damp cloth to immediately remove any descaler residue. Such residue can cause corrosion. New sponge cloths may contain salts. Salts can cause rust ilm on stainless steel and must therefore be washed out thoroughly before use.
