In this user manual, you find all the information you need to enjoy your tea maker optimally for a long time. optimal brewing of different teas Different teas require different brewing methods. Especially the water temperature and steeping time are ver y impor tant for a good end result. For example, some green teas should be prepared at 80°C, as they would get a bitter taste if prepared with boiling (100°C) water. Tea packages often mention the optimal brewing instructions. This tea maker helps to you get all the goodness out of each tea and herbal tea as it enables you to use the ideal combination of water temperature and steeping time. With this tea maker, you can prepare tea in two ways: 1 With one of the four quick-select buttons. These buttons are preprogrammed with the ideal water temperature and steeping time for the main types of tea: black tea (1), green tea (2), fruit and herbal tea (3) and rooibos (4) (Fig. 1). 2 Manually with the personal settings button. When you want to brew a type of tea that you cannot choose with the quick-select buttons or if you prefer different settings than the preprogrammed settings, you can use the personal settings button. When you use this button, you can adjust both the water temperature and steeping time yourself with the increase and decrease buttons. (Fig. 2) The tea brewing process consists of two phases: heating and steeping. After both phases, the appliance produces a bell sound. After the first bell sound (which indicates that the water has reached the right temperature), you can put the filter with the tea leaves in the teapot.Then the light ring on the base lights up segment by segment to indicate the progression of the steeping time. Danger -Do not immerse the teapot or the base in water or any other liquid. Warning -Check if the voltage indicated on the base corresponds to the local mains voltage before you connect the base. -Do not use the appliance if the plug, the mains cord, the base or the teapot is damaged. -If the mains cord is damaged, you must have it replaced by Philips, a ser vice centre authorised by Philips or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. -This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensor y or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given super vision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. -Children should be super vised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. -Keep the mains cord out of the reach of children. Do not let the mains cord hang over the edge of the table or worktop on which the appliance stands. Excess cord can be stored in the base of the appliance. -Keep the mains cord, the base and the teapot away from hot surfaces. -Do not place the appliance on an enclosed surface, as this could cause water to accumulate under the appliance, resulting in a hazardous situation. -Hot water and hot tea can cause serious burns. Be careful when the teapot contains hot water. -Always make sure the lid is placed on the teapot properly before it star ts heating the water. -Do not remove the lid while the water is heating up or boiling. Be careful when you remove the lid immediately after the water has heated up or boiled: the steam that comes out of the teapot is ver y hot. -Never fill the teapot beyond the MAX indication. If the teapot has been overfilled, boiling water may be ejected from the spout and cause scalding. -Do not touch the hot surfaces of the teapot (lid and filter) when the water or tea inside the teapot is hot. -Lift and carr y the teapot by its handle. Be ver y careful when you move the teapot while it contains hot liquid and when you pour out the hot liquid. Hot liquid and steam could cause scalding. -Only use the teapot in combination with the original base provided. -Do not put the teapot in the fridge, ...
