The DC Power Supply also provides the voltages that enable hot insertion of the option cards and SCUs. The DC Power Supply does not, however, provide the voltages necessary to power individual option cards or the SCUs as each card has itis own DC-DC supply. In addition, the DC Power Supply in slot PS-A provides alarm relay output functionality. If only one DC Power Supply is used, place the DC Power Supply in PS-A to provide alarm relay facilities. The DC Power Supply, as well as all Total Access 4303 option modules and SCUs, has protection against the wrong voltage polarity being applied to the shelf.
