This chapter also includes: • Cleaning print cartridges • Changing print cartridges • Printing faxes stored in memory •Messages •Troubleshooting hp fax 1020 series Cleaning the Print Cartridge If you start seeing streaks or missing parts in your printing, first look at the print cartridge to make sure you still have ink. If you have ink and still have problems, make sure paper is loaded and follow these steps. 1Press Menu. 1:Fax Functions will display. 2Press 7. 3 7:Adv. Setup will display. 4Press Enter. 5 1:Scan & Fax will display. 6Press 6. 7 6:Clean Cartridge will display. 8Press Enter. A series of special printing sequences will clean the cartridge. 9 Discard the sheet. If you clean the cartridge a couple of times and still have print quality problems, replace the print cartridge. Changing Print Cartridges When your print cartridge is low on ink, you may see streaks on your faxes or areas of missing ink. To replace the print cartridge follow these instructions. 1 Make sure power is on. 2 Open the print cartridge doors and wait for the cartridge carriage to move to the center. Maintenance and Troubleshooting 3 Remove and replace the print cartridge. Tip!If the cartridge carriage moves back to the side before you put the cartridge in, shut and re-open the print cartridge doors. Printing Faxes Stored in Memory All received faxes are stored in memory. If you run out of paper, have a paper jam, or run out of ink, you can print the faxes that are stored in memory. Print faxes immediately. The fax memory holds a number of pages (around 65) but this memory is overwritten as new faxes arrive. Out of Range Broadcast entries must be between 01 and 30. Enter number between 01 and 30. Fax Memory Full Fax received memory is full. Print from memory to clear unprinted faxes. Bad Ink Nozzle Ink nozzles are clogged. Clean print cartridge. Insert Ink Cart No ink cartridge, wrong ink cartridge, ink cartridge not seated properly, or ink cartridge failed. Fax is Busy Send fax later, broadcast, or fax forwarding already set up. Cancel current request or wait for completion. Communic Failure Communication Failure Could not establish communication.
