Electrical Safety Your Lucas Cordless Screwdriver has an integral battery and must be recharged only with the charger supplied. Do not use another charger as this can create a fire risk. Personal Safety 1. Stay alert, watch what you are doing , and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use the tool whilst tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of inattention whilst operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. 2. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Contain long hair. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. 3. Avoid accidental starting. Carrying the tool with your finger on the trigger or covering the tool with working materials can result in unexpected starting and personal injury. 4. Do not over-reach. Keep a proper footing and balance at all times, particularly if working high up or on ladders. 5. Always wear eye protection and ensure that you keep your hands away from work areas that could result in injury as a result of accidently slipping with the tool. Tool use and care 1. Use clamps to secure and support the work piece. Holding the work piece by hand or against your body is dangerous and may lead to loss of control. 2. Do not force the tool. Although powerful, there are applications that may be unsuitable for your Lucas Cordless Screwdriver. Use the correct tool for the job. If in doubt, ask your local retailer for advice. 3. Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn it on or off reliably and predictably. 4. Store all tools out of the reach of children. 5. Maintain tools with care. Keep screw bits clean and replace any that are chipped or damaged. Make sure that you select a screw bit that is the appropriate size and shape for the screw head that you are working with. 6. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other condition that may affect the operation of the tool. If damaged, have the tool serviced before use. 7. Use only accessories that are sold for the specific applications of cordless screwdrivers of this type. Accessories that may be suitable for one tool may create a risk of injury when used with another tool. Service This tool must be serviced only by qualified repair personnel. Service or maintenance performed unqualified personnel may injury and will invalidate your warranty. SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES 1. Hold your Lucas Cordless Screwdriver by the insulated handle only. This ensures safe operation when doing a job where a screw may contact hidden wiring. Contact with a “live”wire wire will also make exposed metal parts of the tool ”live” and result in an electric shock. 2. Keep hands clear of moving parts. 3. Screw driver bits can become sharp and burred during use. Handle them carefully and safely dispose of damaged bits. Replace immediately with recommended spares. 4. Place the tool on a clean, dry surface within 3 feet (1 meter) of a mains wall socket. Insert the AC adaptor tool charging plug into the port located on the base of the tool. 2. Plug the AC adaptor into the mains wall socket. 3. Allow 3 to 5 hours for the battery to become fully charged. 4. After charging, remove the mains plug from the wall socket and disconnect the tool from the charger. 5. The LED battery level indicator will show you the amount of charge that you have in the battery. 6. When all 3 lights (red, yellow and green) are illuminated, the battery is functioning at full capacity. 7. When 2 lights (yellow and red) are illuminated, the battery capacity is beginning to diminish. 9. When only 1 light (red) is illuminated, this indicates that the battery capacity is low and the tool needs to be recharged. Operation: 1. lnsert the bit into the chuck until it snaps into place. 2. Grasp the tool firmly with both hands, align the bit with the screw and press it firmly into the screw. 3. Start the tool by squeezing the Forward/Reverse trigger switch 4.
