Please be advised that this is not a defect in the unit, but is normal with many heating appliances and will not recur after a few uses. IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following: 1. Read all instructions before using. 2. Do not use appliance for other than intended use. 3. After use, slide control to OFF position and remove plug from outlet. 4. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from entanglement or tripping over a longer cord. 15. Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. 16. If an extension cord is used, the electrical rating should have at least the electrical rating of the appliance. The extension cord should not be allowed to drape over the counter or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or unintentionally tripped over. 17. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact Sunpentown, or a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way. 18. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not cook in the main body directly. 19. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by Sunpentown, an authorized service agent or an equally qualified electrician in order to avoid a hazard. 20. The temperature of accessible surfaces may be high when the appliance is operating. Use with extreme caution and do not touch hot surfaces. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTION! PARTS IDENTIFICATION A. BEFORE USE * Carefully read this instruction manual before use. 1. Place pan into the body. ** When re-using this pan, please remove all leftovers that may be attached to the surface of the hot plate or on the bottom of the pan. Any leftovers not removed will cause the temperature control to not perform properly. ** Unit must be placed on a flat and even surface. 2. Make sure the switch knob is turned to OFF position. 3. Plug the AC power plug into a wall outlet. ** Unit will not turn on if pan is not properly placed into body. B. USAGE 1. Fill pan with water, soup or oil and turn the switch knob to the suitable position. Cover lid. (Caution: pan will not work if empty) 2. Indicating light will blink when in use. 3. Adjust temperature accordingly. ** To use the grill, simply remove the pan from the body and replace with the grill. Adjust temperature accordingly. C. AFTER USE Turn switch knob to OFF position, unplug AC power plug from outlet. PRECAUTIONS 1. Do not use a metallic spatula or any sharp edged tools – which may damage the nonstick fluorine coating; if scratched, the coating may peel off. 2. Do not place unit on any low heat resistant surface. 3. When cooking and removing the lid, be careful of hot steam. 4. Do not place unit on the following: . Uneven surface . Unstable surface . Next to, or nearby, anything producing high heat, such as the gas range 5. When in use, do not let the body plastic or pan fall and collide. 6. After use, wait until the unit cools down before removing the pans for cleaning. 7. Pan can be used and cooked separately on a gas range. NOTE: do not place empty pan on a burning gas range, this will destroy the pan. 8. Do not place and use any other equipment on the body, including pans from other brands or kettles. 9. To avoid an electric shock, do not wash or immerse the body in water or any liquid. 10. When in use, dedicate only one outlet for the electric multi cooker.
